Special Care Treatment
People with special abilities and patients with chronic diseases (patients suffering from diabetes, malignancy, cardiological conditions etc), have always held a special place in our hearts, and at our practice. We focus in preventive dental guidelines early on during our sessions, so as to help familiarise our patients, their families and caregivers with optimized oral hygiene methods. Aiming to hold our treatment sessions at our dental office premises, we educate our special abilities patients so that they can co-operate for their session’s needs. For those that either cannot co-operate during their treatment or are in need a surgical enviroment due to underlying medical conditions, we move our treatment sessions in a fully equipped daily care unit in central Piraeus, where all patient’s dental needs can be met in a single session. Accessibility to treatment without compromising safety conditions is now feasible for all patients without exceptions.

Vera Kaloumenou, Orofacial Pain Management (Gnathology)
Vera Kaloumenou graduated from NKUA with degree grade of “Very Well” as a dentist and has an MSc in Orofacial Pain Management from the same Athens University, with a degree of 8.59/10. She is married and mother of one. Her fascination with the physiology of the masticatory system began at a very early age, as she got first hand knowledge of how a dysfunction in the area can affect one’s every day life. Luckily, her father, Kaloumenos Ioannis (John) was a professor and Head of the department of Stomatognathic system physiology in the university, so he treated her and through the years, especially while she was studying for her bachelor in dentistry, educated her in many aspects regarding different conditions that can contribute to what is widely known as TMD or TMJD.
Since graduating the postgraduate degree, she limits her practice to orofacial pain management, i.e. managing craniomandibular dysfunction, headaches, tinnitus/hearing loss, difficulty/pain during mouth opening/closing or while chewing/swallowing food, open or closed “lock”, neck and upper back pain, painful situations in head/neck/back area, bruxism or teeth clenching, clicking or other sounds during mouth opening/closing, athletic mouth guards as well as snoring and sleep apnea syndrome.
She has published articles in Greek Scientic Magazines and has done presentations and lectures in dental congresses.
Her love of dentistry and the deep understanding of how important it is for all to have access to the best possible dental care has led her to volunteering in preventive screening of preschool and grammar school children, as well as accepting the honor and the responsibility of being the coordinator of the scientific committee fro the Regional Dental Association of Piraeus.

Book an Appointment
Our practice has remained open for treating only emergency cases ever since the government started the national effort to minimize citizen transport and prompt citizens to stay at home. All out patients did stay at home, but they were never abandoned.
Now that our sacrifices gave results and the first restrictive measures are to be lifted, we may announce the accessibility of standard care in our practice.
Corona virus will still be in our lives and that forces us to comply with the requirement of social distancing.
This is why we feel the need to inform you that we will adopt some modifications in the operation of our practice.
- Patients will be evaluated by taking a medical history during our telephone communication (triage) prior to our appointment, and patient’s temperature will be measured upon arrival. This measure aims in detecting a potential corona virus patient who has not yet realized that he /she is ill. The same measure will be applied to doctors and support staff in our practice, on a daily basis.
- The duration of the appointments is modified in order to avoid the simultaneous presence of more than one patient per 10 square meters of the waiting area. The same reasoning lies behind our allowing the presence of a companion only to minors or people in need of assistance.
- We use personal protection equipment according to the increased vigilance protocol. Behind the face shields and the masks you will encounter, we remain your ever friendly and smiling dentists. Please explain to your children that we will look different during our session with them (if they are the patients), but that the special equipment is because we are superheroes!!! in the war against caries.
The aforementioned measures will be re-evaluated and modified according to the scientific data that will emerge and the fluctuations of the epidemiological indicators.
Please feel free to pose any questions by mail ( email@example.com) or phone (2108942676).
For the ODONTOLYSIS team,
Dr Maria Menenakou
